(via E-Media Tidbits) Two of the nicest guys in online media business, Marc Canter and JD Lasica, have jointly launched a new project called Open Media: The Open Source Media Project…the project will enable folks to access the big repositories of open-source content, focused mainly on multimedia and video services.
The big idea: “The idea is that common APIs and Schemas get established that are then supported by the notion of a ‘personal media server’. This code gets baked into all sorts of existing platforms, devices, etc. – while also being given away – in multiple languages.” See a chart on how this will be implemented, here…
