Now that there’s tons of venture capital and M&A activity in the search market, it will surely come to the news search and information market…so goes the logic. As a first example of that, Rocketinfo, one of the smaller players out of Canada and popular with librarians, has been bought out by Zeppelin Energy.
Zeppelin is wierdly diversified company, with interests and properties in oil & gas and in software. Zeppelin will be changing their name to Rocketinfo Inc. to reflect their focus upon this major transaction.
Rocketinfo, besides its main business information service, has a general news search website, and recntly launched desktop RSS newsreader…some more info here…the company has been profitable for the last 8 quarters…
Expect other relatively smaller players like Topix.net, Findory and others to come on the radar of bigger search and information/media companies…
