WaPo Online’s Revenues Increase 40 Percent

In Washington Post Company’s Q2 results: revenues generated by online publishing activities, primarily washingtonpost.com, increased 39% to $15.4 million, from $11.1 million in the year-ago quarter; online revenues increased 40% to $28.8 million for the first six months of 2004, from $20.6 million in the first six months of 2003.

Local and national online advertising revenues grew 61% and 62% for the second quarter and first six months of 2004, respectively. Online classified advertising revenue on washingtonpost.com increased 37% in the second quarter of 2004 and 41% for the first six months of 2004.
