For all of you who’ve e-mailed over the last week, and I haven’t replied: well, here’s the reason: my home digital cable network has been down for most of this week…
What that means is that I have no TV, no net access, and no phone access (I have a VOIP phone)..my cell phone still works, of course. (And I’ve been watching the DNC on terrestrial TV on ABC…imagine that!)
What that also means is that I’ve been working out of Starbucks on their Wi-fi network, using my 1999 Thinkpad…hence I’m only concentrating on the work, instead of replying to e-mails.
The long and short: my apologies…
It also makes you realize: the computer with no connections is not the dumb machine, you become the dumb machine, with nothing to do, and little connection with outside world. Ironically, during this down time, I’m reading Dan Gillmor’s “We The Media” book, which is all about connecting and liberating people and media and societies through IP…
