Yet another 3G service provider

German cell phone operator E-Plus is likely to announce its 3G service on August 16, joining Euro big daddies, O2, 3, Vodafone and T-Mobile in the high speed wireless sweepstakes. wo handsets, the Nokia 7600 and the Sony Ericsson Z1010, which supports i-mode, will be available according to company press release. Research firm Current Analysis thinks that the service launch may have little or no impact because, “since the operator is targeting the video call market, a market which has failed to stimulate interest in other parts of Europe.” T-Mobile Jukebox might be a better way to go, than video calling. From a consumer standpoint, all these services are too expesive and they should wait for the companies to get into a price war. Like AT&T Wireless, E-Plus took money from NTT and is now paying the price.
