Apple to Make Music Player for Motorola Phones

I should have known…when I talked about the online-mobile music disconnect, I should have guessed that someone who energized the online music scene would also try and bridge that gap…

Apple will make a slimmed-down version of its iTunes jukebox software that phone maker Motorola will install on some wireless phones it will start selling in the first half of 2005.

Mac or Windows PC users will be able to transfer songs from the iTunes digital jukebox software or from the iTunes online music store, which is integrated into the iTunes software, to Motorola cell phones, using USB or Bluetooth technology.

WSJ: Moto also unveiled a phone that combines cellular and wireless Internet-calling capabilities. The device, called the CN620, which could be the first mobile phone that combines wide-area GSM cellular technology with shorter-range Wi-Fi technology, could open the floodgates for users to steal away significant minutes from cellular networks and place free calls over the Internet.
