Virgin Launches Music Device; Moves To Valley

Virgin Electronics, a new consumer electronics development unit part of the Virgin family, has launched a silver-dollar sized wearable 128MB MP3 Player that weighs just half an ounce and is ideal for people who love to enjoy music on the go. It can only hold about 40 songs. (Some pictures here)

But the Virgin device also has a more modest price tag. Available now at Target department stores, it sells for $99.99. The iPod Mini, by comparison, costs $249.

The company also announced that it is relocating from New York to San Jose, CA, to be in the thick of Silicon Valley. Along with the move come two new executives: CEO Greg Woock and a senior VP of marketing, Joe Sipher.

Virgin Electronics says it plans to build digital products with an emphasis on ease of use and customer value.
