Even as more wireless devices sport e-mail software and Internet service, mobile search has remained a bit-player’s game – often provided in restricted form by cellphone carriers themselves – leaving open the billion-dollar question of whether it will stay a divided kingdom or a king of mobile search will yet be crowned.
If there is to be a Google of mobile search, it could even be Google itself…in May, the company struck up a search relationship with MobileOne, the second-largest mobile operator in Singapore, for a Google image search service.
