Gizmondo, a new mobile gaming device to be launched by Tiger Telematics later this year, will be able to download music from OD2, the European digital music service bought out recently by Loudeye. The OD2 deal includes the development and management of a Gizmondo-branded music site solution and digital logistics.
The Gizmondo device has a 2.8-inch TFT color screen with an ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates a 64-bit graphics accelerator. Besides the MP3 music player, the device provides cutting-edge gaming, multimedia messaging, MPEG-4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services and is equipped with Bluetooth for use in multi-player gaming and accepts MMC card accessories.
