Funny promotion: AOL has a new deal with Wal-Mart stores nationwide to air concerts from its Broadband Rocks concert series. The series kicked off July 2 with an Avril Lavigne concert, which was broadcast in more than 2,600 stores and more than 100,000 screens via the Wal-Mart Television Network. Wal-Mart said it will air the concert events on select Friday nights through the end of the year.
The co-promotion of AOL for Broadband in Wal-Mart stores helped boost store sales of the Canadian pixie’s new album Under My Skin 5 percent.
