Two stories in today’s NYT point to a trend which is unstoppable: users want to package the content their own way.
– NYT I: A media-sharing tool called Webjay has quickly become an underground hit. The site/tools makes it easy to build, share and watch playlists of audio and video links culled from around the Internet.
– NYT II: A more commercial tool called Amplify (which I’ve written about before and I don’t like it. Why? It is too gimmicky…) allows users to take text, graphics, video clips and other media from a variety of Web sites and then easily assemble that information into one new page that displays and provides links to all of the underlying information at once. The page can then be shared with others.
