The Telegraph Group in UK is to weigh up the future of its fashion/gossip site Handbag.com–a joint venture with Boots–following the Barclay Brothers’ anticipated £655m buy-out of the group.
Hugo Drayton, Telegraph Group MD and Handbag board director, said a sale of the business, flotation or addition of a third joint venture partner were all options that will be considered when Handbag breaks even, something anticipated for the beginning of 2005.
The group is also distancing itself from away from the Hollinger Telegraph New Media name, under whic it operated before the buyout. HTNM has already passed on most of the responsibility for running the telegraph.co.uk site to its general manager Tim Faircliff.
