This is the third RSS-related funding that I’ve heard about…FeedBurner, an RSS analytics and startup based in Chicago, has raised a seven figure amount in a first round of venture funding, CEO Dick Costolo told me.
I’ve been using FeedBurner to get a hold on numbers about my RSS feed usage, and I’ve liked it till now. Some of the analytics work is guesswork, because of the varied nature of RSS newsreaders, but the tool has improved rapidly since it first launched a few months ago.
The funding was done by Portage Ventures, a Chicago based venture firm, and Ed Chandler, the managing director from Portage, has joined FeedBurner’s board.
FeedBurner is still in pre-alpha stage as a software tool, and is expected to go into beta this month…see more details on the company’s moves here…
The two other RSS related fundings that I’ve heard of: Pheedo, an RSS-based ad solution company and Newsgator, an RSS newsreader.
