Factiva Chief: Google Not A Threat

“Google has actually complemented Factiva,” CEO Clare Hart told ZDNet Australia, adding that while it was useful for generic information, news access required a more sophisticated approach. “Our customers recognize the value in the comprehensive service they’re getting and the time that they are saving. Time is one of the most important assets to business people.”

Update I: One of my readers writes in: “Factive only WISHES it could be threatened by Google!! This is a classic over-reach by a small outift: make a stretch comparison to the leader. I bet half the people who read the story haven’t even heard of Factiva.”

Update II: John Blossom writes on his blog: “This of course does not take into account the increasing number of subscription and registration-based sources that are searchable via Google News, nor a recognition that ad-supported content and other forms of content that have non-subscription access models are some of the most innovative and strong sources of high-quality content today.”
