The BBC set out its plans for the future today, publishing its vision of a Britain where everyone in the UK has equal access to digital services which are “on demand, portable and personalised”. In a document long on rhetoric and short on detail, the BBC said it would use broadband extensively in what appears to be a proposal for a massive expansion of its current online services.
Among its plans are to launch the Creative Archive online, expand its Media Player into broadband TV and “help those who are less digitally confident”.
You can read the whole manifesto in HTML or download it in PDF here. “In the second phase, quality of content and choice of content will be key, and the opportunities to build substantial public value will be many and various. They will include new ways to involve people in civic processes and institutions, personalised learning tools, access to previously closed archives, new ways of connecting communities, more convenient ways to watch and listen to programmes, more localised content, tailored services for minority groups.”
