The Associated Press seeks a results-oriented online product manager to create, develop, manage and promote new media services. This position works closely with customers and collaboratively with AP editorial, technical and financial departments to conceive new and enhanced services and produce detailed business plans.
Responsibilities include managing products and services for the sports information market, as well as developing other new media products and strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with technical and editorial managers on product development teams and with suppport, marketing and sales staffs in promoting new and existing services.
Online business managers are responsible for ongoing management of the services in their portfolio, monitoring production units, customer satisfaction and financial performance.
The position requires a candidate who can work in cross-departmental teams and achieve goals without direct authority over other team participants. He/she should have broad understanding of the sports news and information marketplace, experience in product development, product management or marketing in the media field; working knowledge of new media technology, excellent follow-through and superior interpersonal skills required to work with both internal and external contacts. Advanced degree in related field a plus.
