Apple and Napster are this week announcing separate initiatives to expand their distribution services internationally.
iTunes will launch in UK, Germany and France. Napster will unveil a partnership with NTL to offer music subscriptions to the UK cable group’s 1m broadband customers.
Independent UK: On iTunes: Individual songs are likely to cost 99p and albums less than pounds 10, to encourage “impulse” sales. Payment currently requires a credit card, though parents can buy their children vouchers to redeem online.
