The Online Publishers Association has released an interesting study on the broadband consumptions habits of 18 to 34 year olds…
Besides some obvious figures on increased time spent online with broadband, some relevant findings about how content consumption is affected: most of the time is spent on entertainment and content sites, as opposed to communications-related functions such as e-mail or IM.
Specifically, entertainment sites with multimedia and streaming capabilities register the largest increases at 98 percent. In addition, time spent with General News sites increases 72 percent and time spent on weather sites increases an astounding 185 percent for 18 to 34 year-old broadband users compared to their dial-up counterparts.
Another interesting finding: Of the three “traditional” categories of interest for 18-34 year olds, particularly males, sports sites see the highest increase (64 percent) in usage by broadband users. Games sites saw a 40 percent increase Automotive sites do not see similar gains.
All in all, a good study to go through in full….
