At an analyst conference call yesterday, Rob Glaser cannot resist his usual obfuscations: The early pioneering period was its “caterpillar” phase, he said, and after the Internet bubble burst, RealNetworks moved into a “cocoon” period. Now, the company is in its “butterfly” period, Glaser said.
Anyway, no suprises here: the company’s focus has turned to music subscriptions and Internet games, with plans to expand to online movies in the future.
