VeriSign to Acquire German Content Mobile Provider Jamba in $273M deal

Europe’s largest wireless content mediation company Jamba is being acquired by VeriSign. The Berlin, Germany-based Jamba is being purchased for about $273 million in cash and VeriSign stock. The deal calls for 65 percent of the price to be paid in cash. This is Verisign’s second such deal in the last two months: In March, it announced the takeover of Unimobile, a provider of mobile messaging products to telecom carriers and enterprises

Jamba sells wireless content services in in nine European countries through distribution and billing relationships with carriers, including Vodafone, T-Mobile and KPN. In addition, Jamba has worked with leading content publishers to build a downloadable library of over 50,000 individual products, including popular music, graphics, games and applications.
