It’s the mating season for DRM players, for some reason…well, there are some logical reasons, business wise. First there was Microsoft and Time Warner taking stake in ContentGuard, then BT tying up with DMDSecure, RealNetworks and other vendors, and now this: NDS, a News Corp. company and provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, and Thomson, technology provider for media companies, have join forces to promote the development of secure content protection solutions…
The two companies will promote the development of Secure Video Processor and to combine it with SmartRight technology to offer a comprehensive solution for digital content protection, from network operators/broadcasters to final consumer receiver and display devices.
SVP and SmartRight logic can be embedded in a wide range of standard chips that can be used in CE devices including digital TVs, set-top boxes, Digital Video Recorders, portable players and other mobile devices.
