This story from Wired News notes that RealNetworks is backing down a bit in its aggresive sales tactics with RealPlayer and its other subscription services, due to user frustration.
After years of fielding complaints from users unhappy with RealNetworks’ aggressive marketing tactics, websites are either adding Windows Media Player as an another opt, according to this story.
The company says it has made “great strides” in redesigning the download page to make it easy for people to find what they want right away…the newest version of the software is a “kinder, friendlier, easier.”
