Canadian media/newspaper company CanWest, which has made noises recently about convergence and the importance of it for newspaper industry, will launch a multimedia digital newspaper offering embedded video of everything from broadcast news clips to television listings linked to Global TV’s full program lineup. Classified car ads, for example, could link potential buyers to video footage.
To provide the service, CanWest will partner with satellite, cable and telecom providers.
The biggest challenge to the new business model is not technology or content, both of which currently exist, but changing employees’ perception of the new medium.
