(sub. req.): America Online is considering a re-organisation of its business units and internal reporting structure to reflect a new growth strategy at the company, reports FT. People familiar with the plan predicted that AOL would, internally, manage and report figures separately for its traditional dial-up internet subscription business – which has been in decline – and its growing broadband operations. AOL’s international ops and its media business, covering online advertising and e-commerce, would also be stripped out.
Approval for AOL’s internal growth plans could determine whether the division is retained in the long term.
