Broadband ISP Speakeasy has received $24 million in venture funding, its fourth and largest financing round to date. Leading the round were 3i Corp of Menlo Park, Calif., and BV Capital of San Francisco. Funding also was provided by Ares Management LP, Cornerstone Ventures, Matthew G. Norton and Granite Ventures.
The ISP will use the funding to underwrite “aggressive expansion,” including offering voice communications over the Internet. Additionally, the company plans to leverage its “strong position” with online gamers and will introduce a variety of related initiatives and services.
