(sub. req.): SportsLine plans a $9.95 subscription package that will allow broadband users to watch dozens of games in the busy early rounds of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament, marking the first time a standalone March Madness package has been available on the Web. America Online’s three million high-speed subscribers will get the Webcasts free through a deal the Time Warner unit struck with SportsLine.
Last year, the NCAA first tried selling Webcasts as part of a $16.95-a-month sports video-subscription service from Yahoo Inc., which has since been revamped because of disappointing demand.
