Napster’s Slow Growth

(sub. req.) Napster’s downloads are hardly growing contrary to what they’ve been saying in their press releases. Yesterday, they said that Napster’s revenues will grow 34.6 percent in this fiscal over last fiscal quarter, which is only technically right. Napster was only operational for the last two months of the previous quarter, as this Variety.com story points out.

Company said Napster revenues will total $5.5 million in the current quarter. That’s about equal with its performance in the fourth quarter of last year, when it generated $3.6 million in the two months it was available, but above company’s previous guidance of $5 million.

Again, iTunes is generating nearly as much revenue every two weeks as Napster is each quarter.
