Alongside shiny new handsets, scores of new multimedia services designed for third-generation, or 3G, cellphone technology were demonstrated at an industry gathering in Cannes this week.
Among the deals signed: Universal Mobile, a division of the Universal Music Group of Vivendi Universal, and Alcatel, signed a deal on music video clips; T-Mobile and Sony Music signed a deal to distribute TruTones (actual song clips) to users in U.S.; Sony Ericsson tied up with Sony Music as well; and many others.
