Yahoo Japan, Japan’s top Internet portal, posted an 87 percent jump in third-quarter profit on Wednesday and raised its forecast for the full year thanks to record advertising sales and a strong auction business. Advertising sales in particular were stronger than expected, boosted in large part by the popularity of its sponsored Web links, where companies pay to be listed at the top of search results.
