Synacor Receives New Round of Funding; Signs 19 New Syndication Partners

Synacor, one of those companies you’ll probably never hear about except for fundings like this, has received a new round of funding from Advantage Capital Partners. The amount was not disclosed. This follows it last round of funding of $6.5 million, announced in March last year.

Synacor’s software platform, Portelus, enables online services to be bundled, delivered and billed directly to an ISP’s customer, seamlessly without the submission of additional personal or credit card information, the idea being that using this, additional subscription services can be offered online without much effort. The company will use the new funding to continue the strategic expansion of its customer base to larger MSOs and telephone companies looking to leverage the growing market for paid premium content and services.

Concurrently, the company also announced that it has signed on 19 new customers. The new customers include American Greetings, NHL, Salon.com, MusicNet, MusicNow, among others…
