America Online’s Q4 revenues declined 7%. Operating income before depreciation and amortization improved to $301 million from a loss of $33.1 billion. The domestic AOL brand subscriber count amounted to 24.3 million as of Dec. 31, down nearly 400,000 from three months earlier, and down 2.2 million from year-ago figures.
Ad revenues decreased by 40%, related to reduced benefits from prior-period contract sales of over $550 million and lower intercompany revenues of $138 million. Other revenues declined 61%, due mainly to AOL’s previously announced strategy to reduce the promotion of its merchandise business.
