Index to Launch Mobile Music Label

In an only-in-Japan story (though who knows…), Index Corp, one of the biggest mobile content providers in Japan, has launched a new music label called “Raijin” in alliance with Solstice Music. Solstice has a solid foothold in the electronic music scene and will collaborate with Index Music Publishing and Haiku SAS, aiming to create a new business model that incorporates CDs and ringtones.

Index Music Publishing will take the role of licensing music and creating master CDs while making contracts with artists for distribution of ringtones/ringsongs throughout the world.

Index has plans to expand this business to other regions of the world including China and the U.S.
