Bill Rosenblatt on the new RealPlayer 10, whch can play all media formats: “In order to play files in these formats at all without licensing technology from its competitors, RealNetworks has had to accomplish great feats of “clean room” reverse engineering…Yet in doing so, they have reverse engineered their way around both vendors’ DRM schemes. Is this a violation of DMCA 1201? It sure looks that way to us, and we would bet that RealNetworks took the legal risk knowingly.”
