Marketing Chief to Leave AOL as Ad Sales Plunge

AOL is revamping its troubled ad-sales operation yet again: After only six months at the helm of the ad sales unit, exec. VP Lisa Brown is leaving the company. She was being investigated for more than $40,000 of questionable expense reports, say people familiar with the situation.

At the same time, AOL is in talks with Time Warner ad-sales executive Michael J. Kelly about overseeing the advertising-sales group as well as other duties.

The restructuring also is designed to help AOL coordinate its ad sales more effectively over its expanding array of services, including AOL for Broadband, AOL Latino, AOL for Kids and Netscape. This marks the third management shift at the ad sales group in the past year.
