Update (Revised: More deals added into the total) About $290 million was invested in digital media startups in 2003, according to some topline data collated through this site…this amount was invested in the last 12 months in 46 companies. Another 10 deals were done with no deal amount disclosed…
Average size of deal: $6.3 million.
The biggest deal of the year was SkyStream Networks, which develops IP-based VOD solutions: AOL TW (now TW) and Comcast invested in the company. The second biggest deal was Turbine, an online game developer, which received $18 million from investors.
I will be listing all the deals in the first week of Jan (and perhaps package them as a PDF and offer it as a download).
