Sony Takes Share in YooMedia

Sony has taken a 10 percent stake in British iTV company YooMedia. YooMedia, which develops applications for Sky Digital and other broadcasters, is handing Sony 18 million new shares to pay for the Japanese company’s GoPlay TV business, which is worth £6.4m.

It is also giving Sony a seat on its board as part of the deal to acquire GoPlay, which allows viewers to play various entertainment games on Sky Digital interactive – on a channel that will now be called YooPlay.
