Destra has launched Australia’s first legal online music service, albeit with a small initial catalogue. Sanity, HMV, JBHiFi and ChaosMusic are selling music downloads from Destra’s 100,000-song catalogue, mostly for $1.99 each, but a few are 99c.
Although only EMI and Festival Mushroom Records have songs on offer so far, Destra said songs from all other big music labels would be available within the next two months, taking the catalogue to 500,000 songs by June.
