The more I plan about expansion of my site, the more it seems like I’ll have to move back to US…and of course, I need to take out Dan Ariely of the Media Lab to lunch..
Back to the point, Jeff Jarvis writes about a Media Lab conference session on micropayments: The lab ran an experiment giving students $10 and telling them they had to stare at a screen for 45 minutes or buy content on various models: subscription; prepayment; micropayment. The results: They consumed 10 times more content on subscription basis than by micropayment…But when asked what method they preferred — specifically, what method would yield the highest quality content for them — the subjects said micropayment. So business-model [is] as they do, not as they say.
