The BBC is facing calls to give more work to external new media agencies in a move that could be worth tens of millions of pounds to the industry…The calls came on the final day of submissions for the BBC Online review.
Since 1990, the BBC has been required to commission a quarter of its TV shows from independent producers. However, it has no obligation to do the same with its online activities, which have an annual budget of some £83m.
