UK telecom operator O2 has delivered on its promise to launch a music download service via mobile phones – a move first mooted last month….O2 music enables mobile phone users with Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Siemens handsets, among others, to download and store tracks on its Digital Music Player by using the mobile’s infrared or short cable option as the connection to the Music Player. Once the connection is made customers can search by genre, artist track or chart and are given a 30-second preview clip before paying £1.50 to download a track. Virgin offers a similar service for 60p per downloaded track.
