Wal-Mart Prepares to Launch Low-Price Online Music Store

As reported by NY Post first, Wal-Mart is entering the online music fray: it will launch an online music store as soon as next week, with prices that are expected to be lower than competitors’, according to people quoted in the WSJ story.

The retailer is teaming with Geneva Media, which in January purchased Liquid Audio’s digital-music fulfillment business.
Walmart.com’s music store will have about 200,000 song titles available for downloading, and they are expected to cost less than the customary 99 cents.
