FullAudio Ties Up With Best Buy For Downloads

(see second story down the page) MusicNow, the music service from FullAudio, has tied up with Best Buy retail chain to push its download service: On Monday, it will start selling individual songs online from a new digital music store on Best Buy’s Website. Before, MusicNow required that consumers subscribe to its service for $9.95 a month before they could purchase single songs online. Best Buy will promote the MusicNow service with video screen kiosks in its stores.

RealNetworks already has a tie-up with Best Buy to promote Rhapsody services in-store. [Does that mean Rhapsody has been booted or will both the services co-exist?]

Update: Sean Ryan, head of music at RealNetworks’ replies in an e-mail: “As we indicated when we launched the BestBuy relationship, it is non-exclusive on both sides, so their inclusion of other services was fully expected, as is our continuing addition of other large distribution partners, including potentially other retailers. We are most definitely still featured in the stores, the 5,000 kiosks, and by the “blue shirts” who help customers.”
