In an otherwise good roundup of a weblogs/social software hoo-haa session in NYC today, a comment by Fred Wilson stood out: he said that Reuters’ decision to put its headlines on Yahoo back when portals mattered and said that though some thought Reuters was crazy, it was the wisest move they could have made.
Holy God Fred! Do you know anything about Reuters? It is getting killed by how much it has syndicated away on the open Web, and does not know how it should start attempting to pull back on any of those deals…it is getting killed from all directions, and has no clue whatsoever. I suppose you should know better since you invested in Multex, which was later sold to Reuters, but apparently you don’t.
And ah, on the same vein, he’s formally launched his new fund, called Union Square Ventures…as I said before, run for cover…
