(via Picturephoning): Another use of camera phones: Japanese watermarking pioneer M-Ken Co has launched an app. that allows users of cell phones with a camera function to photograph an ad containing an electronic watermark and then immediately connect to a related website. It is working with NTT DoCoMo on the service.
Not sure how succesful such ad-driven uses will be, but a more useful and a simpler service was launched recently by a U.S. company called NeoMedia, which launched an Amazon.com comparison shopping service through camera phones…in essence, shoppers could take out their Nokia 3650 camera phone at any book store, and take a picture of the ISBN on the book to comparison shop at Amazon.com through their wireless Web browser.
