The AOP Awards last night were a blast…I’m still groggy and hoarse. And I take back my slight bitterness earlier in the day at the conference not having Internet access.
The awards room was chockfull with about 450 people, which I will venture to say is probably the biggest online gathering till date in UK, post-bust.
Some points: BBC Online was booed down by the crowd every time their name was announced among the nominees…they did not win an award. The Sun.co.uk gang made the most noise, and heckled the host throughout the evening (like, guys, seriously, get it together in life, will ya?).
About the host Sean Meo, who is a stand-up comedian, I have to say he is the funniest I have seen in years…I am surprised he is not more famous than he is (well, he’s famous, but he deserves more…). Wicked, biting funny.
