America Online has settled with FTC over wrong treatment of consumers: according to FTC, AOL treated subscribers unfairly over the last several years by making it overly difficult for them to cancel monthly subscriptions to the Internet service.
Today’s settlement also includes charges that AOL’s CompuServe subsidiary failed to provide $400 rebates to new customers as promised.
AOL said in a statement that the company was not admitting any wrongdoing and was pleased to resolve the nearly four-year-old FTC probe.
