Wippit, the UK-based company which bills itself as the first legitimate P2P service, is on the verge of a deal with the major labels, some three years after it first approached them regarding an online music distribution deal.
The company has previously rejected the terms proposed by the major labels, which include paying “hefty advances” to rent out music, which [CEO Paul Myers] said was “as popular as Hitler at a Bar Mitzvah with internet users who can get it all for free anyway”.
