In response to the effects of file-sharing, Universal Music has cut prices on its news CD releases: newsly pressed CDs suggesting a $12.98 retail price — about $6 less than the current sticker.
The company is hopeful that the four other major music companies — Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, BMG Entertainment and EMI — would drop their prices, as well.
