News: RSS/XML Feed for PaidContent.org Newsletter

After much thought, I have developed an RSS version of the newsletter (not the site, though that is available as well, since MT has a default option)…the whole newsletter, which goes out in a daily e-mail, will be pushed out through this feed once a day. It is still rudimentary, but as a publisher, I need to think more and more about e-mail glut and spam filters, and develop alternative delivery channels…

The feed has a couple of banner/text ads in it, and I am ready to take the flak for that. For the media companies to ever become serious about this delivery vehicle, the revenue model has to be figured out, much like everything else.

Beyond that, the problem is that some newsreaders don’t read the whole text or images, even if you’ve enabled that in the RSS feed…the aggregator I am using Feed Demon, which is great…I tested it across a few other aggregators and on some it works, on other it doesn’t.

On a related note, I wish RSS would have more formatting capabilities for better presentation, but then, according to some, that defeats the whole purpose of RSS. I am aware of the whole RSS/Echo controversy, and I hope whatever comes out of it, it would be for the better. I will move onto whatever formats becomes more common.

If you’re using a newsreader, check it to see if it comes out OK and let me know your thoughts.
