BuyMusic and Get Loaded?

On user request (ok, not really..) the 150 feet high, 60 feet near-naked rocker Tommy Lee billboard that BuyMusic.com unveiled Times Square today..it is raining cats and dogs in NYC today…maybe he should cover up… (for more pics, see the AP pics on Yahoo)

Update1: BuyMusic.com, which is being launched today, hopes to sell 1 million songs a day, according to a USA Today story. “I expect to do 200 million to 300 million downloads in the first year,” said Buy.com founder Scott Blum.

Update 2: In another story on News.com, Blum expects the service to grow slowly toward its goal of a million downloads a day. He expressed optimism about reaching that milestone by the end of the year, but also acknowledged that the service may never reach that level.

Update 3: Buy.com for IE only: According to another News.com story, While the company makes no bones about the fact that its entire service is based on Microsoft technologies, its exclusion of all but Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser is likely to raise the ire of standards advocates.

Update 4: “BuyMusic.com Parties Like It’s 1999″: BuyMusic.com’s blitz will include over 2,500 advertising spots, some of which will spoof Apple ads that depict a straight-laced businessman singing along to the Sugarhill Gang’s hit “Rapper’s Delight.”
